Beijing Greets 39 Model Worker DelegationsThirty-nine delegations of model workers and advanced personnel from all over China arrived in Beijing on April 28.Wang Zhongyu, state councilor and secretary-general of the State Council, went to Capital Airport to greet some of the delegations. At about 13:30, two special planes from Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, and Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, landed at the airport. On behalf of the State Council, Wang Zhongyu and other Chinese officials welcomed the model workers from Tibet and Xinjiang. The State Council will hold a large conference in Beijing on April 28-30, at which 2,950 model individuals will be cited for their contributions to China's economic development and social progress. |
