China Qualified for Playoff for Fed Cup World Group

Yi Jingqian and Li Na gave China an unbeatable 2-0 lead over Chinese Taipei to secure top place in Pool B at the Fed Cup tennis Asia Oceania Group One in Osaka on Saturday.

The second-seeded Chinese finished the six-team preliminary round robin with five straight wins to book a place in the playoff Sunday against the Pool A winners.

Yi beat Janet Lee 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 and Li Na nipped Tai Lan-lan 6- 2, 6-0.

Indonesia defeated Singapore 3-0 to finish second in Pool B with a 4-1 win-loss record, followed by Chinese Taipei with 3-2.

South Korea were fourth with 2-3, New Zealand fifth with 1-4 ahead of winless Singapore.
