The 15th meeting of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee closed Saturday in Beijing.
Li Peng, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the closing meeting.
The meeting has approved the revised Law on the Prevention of Air Pollution in the People's Republic of China (PRC). President Jiang Zemin signed a decree to make it effective after September 1 this year.
The meeting also approved two interpretations on Clause Two, Article 93 of the Criminal Law of the PRC, the Treaty on the Land Boundary Between the PRC and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Consular Treaty Between the PRC and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Agreement on the Converging Point of Borders Between the PRC, Kyrghyzstan and Kazakhstan, and additional Articles to the Agreement on the Boundaries Between the PRC and Kyrghyzstan.
