China to Hold Computer, Internet Contest for College Students

The Third China Computer and Internet Contest for College Students will run from May 15 through early December, the organizers said on April 28.

The contest will be hosted by the Beijing-based Homeway Information Technology Co., Ltd., a popular financial and securities website in China, which operates website www.homeway. com.cn.

This year's contest features a new twist: a competition on Internet security technology.

Other events in the contest include design of homepages, personal websites, investment and account management software and Internet innovations.

The competition is jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the All China Students' Federation and other organizations.

The previous two events in 1997 and 1998 were great successes and attracted about one million college students nationwide, the organizers said.
