France to Host "2000 France-China Culture Season"

"France's autumn this year belongs to China" and people will have a "2000 France-China Culture Season" to greet, said French ambassador lately in China. A 3-month long event, the ever largest of cultural activities to be held by China abroad, it will be staged in Paris, Lyon and Marseilles respectively.

Sponsored by China's Ministry of Culture, China Performance Overseas Corporation will be committed to mapping out the whole activity with which a coordinated effort will be pooled in by State Bureau of Cultural Relics, China Exhibition Exchanges Center and Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

Some wonderful and traditional theatricals and stage items by China Beijing Opera Institute, Shanghai Shaoxing Opera Team, Shanghai Kunju Opera Team and Central National Musician Team will also be put on stage during the 3-month long "France-China Culture Season".

An unprecedented exhibition on China's ancient relics will also be held at the "2000 France-China Culture Season" and there will be as many as 200 state-class cultural relics dating back to the Shang and Liao times to be put on show at a "China Archeological Finds Exhibition ".

A show of "Voices of Dragon: China's Chimes Arts" will also be on during the "France-China Culture Season". Visitors will see about 120 original ancient chimes and 6 duplicates from the Neolithic Period to the Qing Dynasty.

In addition, a show of about 80 pieces of Chinese monochromes and sculptures under the theme of "Tradition and Reforms: Chinese Monochromes and Sculptures" will bring visitors into a wondrous treasure house of China's traditional and modern arts.

It's no wonder that French ambassador to China H.E. Pierre Morel made the remarks that "France's autumn this year belongs to China" and that the "France-China Culture Season" will truly give people a happy smack of "China flavor".
