On April 27 an agreement for cooperation was signed by Shanghai bank and Shanghai Customs confirming that Shanghai would set up a new type of network system for bank, customs duties electronic accounts transfer so as to carry out online tariff collection to improve customs passing capacity.
When paying customs duties tariff payers can do it in the customs tariff registration hall, in their own offices or through bank's online accounts transfer system, the whole process taking just a couple of minutes. This will gorgeously shorten the time of tariff payment between banks and customs, thereby expediting exports and helping improve the customs passing capacity too.
Sources in Shanghai Bank said this non-paper way for paying customs duties is designed to meet the big increase in export as expected in Shanghai this year. Statistics show the custom duties collected by Shanghai Customs reached 34.5 billion yuan last year.
