Northwest China Province Attracts Talent

Five scientists were provided with a total of 2.3 million yuan as subsidies to carry out scientific research and relocate in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

They include a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and three professors back home from abroad.

This is part of the province's efforts to introduce talents in order to boost its economy. China is now in the midst of a national campaign to develop its western region, which includes Shaanxi.

In line with regulations, a CAS or CAE member will receive 700, 000 yuan in subsidies when he or she becomes a faculty member at an institution of higher learning in the province.

Local authorities said they will provide good living conditions and preferential policies for talented people who relocate in Shaanxi.
