Pyongyang, Seoul Hold Second Preparatory Meeting

Delegations from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and South Korea held their second preparatory meeting at Panmunjom Thursday for an inter-Korean summit scheduled for June 12-14, the Korean Central News Agency reported.

The meeting, held at the Thongil pavilion, just north of the demilitarized zone bisecting the Korean Peninsula and running through Panmunjom, was attended by representatives led by a vice ministerial level official from each side.

At the meeting, head of the DPRK side Kim Ryong Song laid a particular emphasis on the need to adopt working procedures for the Pyongyang summit talks in such a way so as to ensure good results from the summit.

He set forth the North side's draft working procedures, which he said tallies with the character and mission of the coming summit as well as realistic requirements of inter-Korean relations.

He noted that the draft takes into full consideration the proposal made by the South side at the first preparatory meeting.

The two sides agreed to reach a consensus of views on the working procedural matters at the next preparation meeting, scheduled for the South side's portion of Panmunjom on May 3.
