PLA Chief of General Staff Meets ROK Guests

Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Thursday with Lee Soo-Yong, navy chief of staff of the Republic of Korea.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, expressed his satisfaction with the development of military relations of the two countries.

He voiced his hope that the existing friendly neighboring relations between China and ROK would continue to grow.

Fu said that the PLA are keeping a close watch of the situation in the Taiwan Straits and are confident and determined to safeguard state unification and territorial integrity.

Lee Soo-Yong said that the ROK will continue to develop ROK- China relations in the 21st century, and contribute to safeguarding regional peace, stability and development.

Shi Yunsheng, commander of the PLA Navy, was among those attending the meeting. The ROK guests are visiting China at the invitation of Shi.
