87th Chinese Export Commodities Fair Closes

The 12-day 87th Chinese Export Commodities Fair concluded Wednesday in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, with US$ 13.65 billion worth of export deals struck.

Total business volume of the fair was 7.49 percent more than the 86th fair held last autumn or up 18.31 percent from the 85th fair held last spring.

Machinery and electronic products accounted for 37.7 percent of the fair's total export deals.

In the meantime, brand-name export commodities enjoying State support for development were traded well and posted better prices than other commodities.

There were brisk transactions of light industrial and textile commodities, the country's traditional items for export, including garments, ceramics, gifts, footwear, household utensils, plastic and velvet toys, office and stationery articles, and suitcases and satchels.

Information and telecommunications commodities were also good- sellers at the fair, which attracted 98,000 businesspeople from 174 countries and regions, up 7.45 percent from the 86th fair or 23.24 percent from the 85th fair. One third of the businesspeople were newcomers.

During the fair, a dozen forums, seminars and symposiums were held, dealing with subjects ranging from interpretation of policies, market reviews, industry development trends, product promotions to e-commerce.
