Ugandan Police Ask for Help to Dig up Cult Mass Grave

The Ugandan Police have asked the Red Cross and other non-governmental organizations for assistance to unearth a suspected mass grave belonging to a doomsday cult in capital Kampala, the New Vision daily reported Wednesday.

The police have not started digging up the grave due to lack of logistics, said Police Director of Administration Stephen Oonyu.

He said that they needed overalls, gloves, waterproof jackets and nose masks.

The police have sealed off the house rented by cult leader Dominic Kataribaabo after a stench filled the area following a heavy downpour last week, the report said.

The cult, the Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God, burnt at least 500 of their followers in Kanungu in southwestern Uganda on March 17. Other mass graves were discovered on the properties of the cult leaders, bring the number of the dead to more than 1,000.
