Lotus Flower Exhibition to Be Held in Macao in June

Gardening workers are busy cultivating lotus flowers in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China to ensure the success of a national lotus flower exhibition to be held in Macao at the end of June.

More than 8,000 pots of some 200 varieties of lotus flowers will be on display. And a large number of gardening businesses in the inland areas of China have brought lotus roots to Macao for cultivation.

The exhibition will be held in eight different places in Macao and there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Lotus Flower Park which features a lotus flower sculpture sent by the central government as a gift to Macao upon its return to the motherland.

During the exhibition, gardening specialists will also take the opportunity to exchange their experience in cultivating lotus flowers. Relevant cultural and tourist activities will be held in the meantime.

Lotus has been valued by the Chinese as the beautiful flowers emerging stainless from the mud.

Macao municipal officials said the exhibition is of great significance as lotus flower is the most symbolic component of the regional flag and emblem of the SAR.
