FM Spokesman on Chinese and Russian U.N. Representatives' Belgrade Trip

The purpose of the short trip to Belgrade by Chinese deputy permanent representative to the U.N. Shen Guofang and a Russian permanent representative to the U.N. was to listen to opinions of Yugoslavia Federation on the Kosovo issue.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi made the remarks in Beijing Thursday at a regular press conference in response to a relevant question.

He said that the U.N. decided this month to sent a delegation to Yugoslavia to investigate the local situation.

The trip by the Chinese and Russian representatives prior to the U.N. mission shows their respect of Yugoslavia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Sun added.
