The crimes committed by State functionaries, such as the abuse of power, the neglect of duties, and malpractice for selfish ends have drawn increasing attention from various quarters.
In order to further crack down on the offence of dereliction of duty and infringement act, the Supreme People's Procuratorate will strengthen cooperation with relative departments and the press circle to organically combine supervision of laws, public opinion and society over such crimes and keep them under control.
On April 26, 10 departments including the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security, the General Administration of Customs and the State Administration of Taxation held in Beijing the first joint conference on the work of investigating and prosecuting crimes and cases of dereliction of duty and infringement so as to enhance contact and cooperation with each other in the joint effort to attack such crimes.
It is also reported that the Supreme People's Procuratorate recently issued a notice, calling for strengthened contact and cooperation with the press in the process of combating the above-mentioned crimes, and for the establishment of a contact system. It also required that the departments concerned should consciously accept the supervision of the press.
