Chinese President Meets PM of Western Cape Province

Chinese President Jiang Zemin said Wednesday that the Western Cape Province of South Africa and its sister Province of Shandong of China will bear fruit in their cooperation in the future.

He made the remarks during his meeting with Prime Minister of the Western Cape Province Gerald Morkel.

Jiang described the province as an economically developed one in South Africa and expressed his appreciation of its contacts and exchanges with Shandong Province.

Morkel extended his warm welcome to Jiang, saying his province will continue to pursue friendly cooperation with China, especially with Shandong Province.

President Jiang arrived in Cape Town from Pretoria Tuesday afternoon to continue his state visit to the country, which is the last leg of his five-nation tour.
