Police Heads Fired for Dereliction of Duty in East China

The heads of 20 police stations who have neglected their duties have been dismissed from their posts in east China's Jiangxi Province.

Among other things, the heads of these police stations were found to have violated disciplinary procedures.

Ding Xinfa, director of the Jiangxi Provincial Public Security Department, said that efforts are being made to clean up the law enforcement sector.

Jiangxi conducted a two-month survey this year to review the work of 2,100 police stations and more than 10,000 policemen in the province.

About one million local people from all walks of life took part in the survey. Ninety percent of them had no complaints with the work of local police.

However, some ten per cent found a number of police stations unsatisfactory. Ding said that further measures will be taken to improve law enforcement in the province.
