China to Become Largest Projector Market in Asia-PacificChina is likely to become the largest market of computer projectors in Asia-Pacific region, a senior official of the world's top projector producer said on April 25.Vincent Leung, Asia-Pacific marketing manager of InFocus, told a press conference Tuesday that China has already surpassed Australia as the second largest market of projectors in the region, following Japan. He predicted that the market for projectors in China will grow to 15,000 units of low-end products and 34,000 units of high-end products this year. Leung said that after its merger with the second largest projector producer in the world by the end of June, InFocus will continue to invest heavily in China because it is one of the fastest growing projector market in the world. For every 100 notebook computers sold in China market, 4-5 projectors are sold. Noting that since only 10 percent of personal computers in China are notebook, Leung said that China will soon catch up with the international average of 20 percent. He said that China also has a big market potential of connecting projectors with desktop computers and networks. InFocus introduced the world's smallest notebook projector to the China market today. InFocus reported revenue of 390 million US dollars for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1999.
