China's Installed Power Capacity Exceeds 300 Million KW

China has made a major breakthrough in expanding its total installed power generating capacity to 300 million kilowatts, according to Gao Yan, president of the China State Power Corporation (CSPC).

Gao Yan said that CSPC has made great headway in restructuring its power generation industry and in technological renovation, which boosted its plan to transform CSPC into a giant corporation with modern operating methods and a share-holding system.

Along with the sharp rise in the country's total installed power generating capacity, China has given bigger play or put into operation the large-sized generating units with capacity ranging between 300,000 kw and 800,000 kw.

Meanwhile, the condenser tube generating units with generating capacity less than 50,000 kw will be shut down gradually, Gao said.

He noted that CSPC expects to sell 845 billion kwh of electricity and make a profit of 8.6 billion yuan by the end of this year by restructuring the power industry and developing the country's major power grids.

Also, China's power industry will undergo nationwide technological renovations this year, which are designed to control pollution, increase economic returns and guarantee safe operations.
