300 Million Kw Generating Capacity Achieved in China
China has come by its power industry to claim an installed capacity of over 300 million kw since it put its 300,000-kw No. 2 generating unit into operation lately in Suzhou Electric Power Plant.
Statistics show the State Power Company has achieved a power sales amount of 798.9 billion kwh in 1999 to show an increase of 6.9 %, with a profit of 8.67 billion yuan wrested and a tax amount of 31.37 billion yuan turned to the state.
Since the reform and the opening up in the 1980s, China's power industry has been developed in various ways to speed up its electric power construction. With a 100-million kw generating capacity developed in 1987 and 200-million kW in 1995, the country has since been helped with a final solution to its long-standing bottleneck problem in electric supply.
