"Taiwan Independence" Opposed in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, there are as many as 72.9% people opposing "Taiwan independence" and 72.3% who hold that the Taiwan authorities should abide by the "One China Principle".

This is the result of a latest telephone survey by Hong Kong Chinese University, entrusted by All-Hong Kong Women Unity Promotion Association.

The results put the view of a respective 72.1%, 63.3%, 57.5% and 64.6% of the surveyed to the effect that "Taiwan independence" will undermine cross-Straits relations, do harm to Hong Kong's economy, imperil Asia-Pacific stability and impair Sino-US relations.

As to "One China" Principle, 64.6% surveyed agree that it is the prerequisite and basis for developing cross-Straits relations.
