China to Carry out "Soybean Plan"

According to departments concerned, China will spend 100 million yuan to carry out "Soybean Plan" aimed to change national nourishment structure and improve children and teenagers' nutrition in some areas.

It's reported that there are as many as 270 million students suffering from malnutrition in today's China. Relevant surveys indicate that 1/5 of children under-five in rural areas is under normal height and 1 in 10 has not acquired sufficient avoirdupois, resulting in general anemia to children.

The proposed 100 million yuan has been planned to pour into Jilin, Liaoning and Heilongjiang as subsidiary for "student soy milk" to primary and middle students in these three provinces.
