More Power Transmission Works to Be Built

China National Power Corporation will inject 30 billion yuan (US$3.61 billion) in the next five years to build works to connect seven trans- regional power grids to facilitate transmission of electricity from China's western to eastern regions.

Three major transmission routes from the west to the east are now operational. Transmission routes have played a positive role in improving power grids and stabilizing electricity prices, as well as reducing pollution.

A corporate executive told Xinhua that preparations for linking up local power grids from Shandong, Guangdong and central China will be accelerated during the tenth Five-Year-Plan period (2001-2005).
