Energy Output Down in Jan-Feb PeriodChina's production of energy dropped in the Jan-Feb period, according to the latest figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics.Total energy production in the first two months amounted to 130. 92 million tons of standard coal equivalent, down 6.5 percent from the same 1999 period. Production of coal dropped 14.5 percent to 107.64 million tons, while that of gasoline grew 13.6 percent to 6.75 million tons. In the meantime, power output increased 9.7 percent to 200.49 billion kwh. The thermal power output amounted to 175.73 billion kwh, up 8.1 percent year-on-year, and hydro-electric power output rose 26.5 percent to 23.08 billion kwh. |
