4,000 Overseas Students Back to Chengdu

When Zhao Ying, 32, resigned from his post as vice-president of Merrill Security Group of the Wall Street, his annual salary had exceeded US$ 100,000. Today, he has established a hi-tech company with registered funds of US$150,000 in the technology park in Chengdu, Sichuan Province which specializes in the development of software and hardware of firewall.

Chengdu took the lead in setting up a "Doctor Pioneering Garden" this January. Zhang Xueguo, director of the management committee of Chengdu Hi-tech Park, said that in addition to the preferential taxation policy, the government will allocate 1 million yuan for three straight years as the fund to start up the Doctor Pioneering Garden. Meanwhile, it established the risk investment fund, currently usable fund has hit 10 million yuan.

Statistics reveal that there are nearly 20,000 Chengdu students studying abroad, about 4,000 of them have come back to serve their motherland. Forty-six of them, back from the United States and Canada, have set up 33 enterprises in the "Pioneering Park" and 60 more are under construction.
