China Invests More in Science, Education in Jan-Feb
China has spent more on science and education in Jan-Feb period, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
Figures from the bureau showed the aggregate investment in scientific research and poly-technical services in the first two months this year reached 338 million yuan (about 40.72 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 74.5 percent on an annual basis. At the same time, investment in education, culture, health care, broadcasting and social welfare amounted to 3.34 billion yuan (about 402.41 million U.S. dollars), up 19.8 percent over the same period of last year.
The Chinese government has placed the development of science and education high on its agenda in an effort to accelerate the country's modernization process.
