Lhasa to Sell State-owned Enterprises

The 37 state-owned enterprises in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, will be sold over the next three years, local media reported on April 21.

City officials have worked out a series of measures to encourage non-state enterprises to buy, merge or lease the SOEs. The city will first evaluate the assets of the retiring SOEs and then sell them with their net assets as the bottom prices.

Buyers who want to pay a lump sum will be given a 20 percent discount.

Installment payments are an option, but the down payment should not be no less than 40 percent of the enterprises' value, according to the measures.

The property rights of these enterprises may be changed into lease agreements or be transferred to the contractors.
