A train drawn by a new kind of locomotive engine made in China pulled out of this capital city in northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Thursday.
Designed and manufactured by the Datong Locomotive Plant, the engine is computer-controlled with independent ventilating devices and a full pendent system, and is designed for speeding up to 170 km per hour.
This engine marks the end of dependence on imports from France and Japan, and the start of fully domestic locomotive manufacturing in China, said an official with the local railway department.
