Beijing Exports Rise 47.7 Percent in First Quarter

Beijing had a total foreign trade volume of US$ 2.29 billion, up 29.3 percent over the same period last year.

The city's exports rose 47.7 percent to US$ 874 million, a rate 8.7 percentage points higher than the national average, according to the city's commission of foreign trade and economic cooperation.

Foreign-funded enterprises exported 520 million US dollars worth of goods during the three months, up 91.1 percent, and total exports of foreign-funded companies account for 60 percent of the city's total.

Exports from state industries in Beijing rose 10.2 percent to US$ 344 million, as the state sector's percentage of the city's total exports dropped from last year's 51 percent to 39 percent.

Beijing's exports to Asia rose 44.4 percent to US$ 450 million, reversing the previous declining trend.
