Sino-US New Millennium "Environment Education" to be on in Beijing
Sino-US "Global Environment Education", jointly initiated by the Chinese Science and Technology Ministry and US Global Protection Transmission Co. in 1997, will be launched on April 22 in Beijing pending year 2000's "Earth Day".
"Global Environment Education" includes donating environment protection textbooks to middle and primary schools in Beijing, holding knowledge competitions on environment protection and conducting exchanges of teachers between US and China.
"Global Environment Education" in China is the first of like activities for transnational environment protection and an organizational setup for developing environment education in China. It aims to strengthen cooperation between China and other countries in environment protection, arouse public zeal especially among middle and primary school students for environment protection and enhancing the whole nation's awareness of environment protection.
Last year the organization donated over 10 thousand volumes of textbooks on environment protection to 55 middle and primary schools in Beijing area and there are more than 7000 students have participated in the study of water and energy savings.
