China Digital Library Corp. Ltd. (CDLC) has launched the China Digital Library Project. At a ceremony at the National Library of China Tuesday, Xu Jialu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Ai Qingchun, vice-minister of culture attended the ceremony.
The CDLC will set up high-quality multimedia repositories, provide digital information services and develop e-commerce. With a registered capital of 20 million yuan (2.4 million U.S. dollars), the corporation is aiming to be listed on the stock exchange and collect funds from public and private sources, Zhou Heping, the corporation general manager, said.
The China Digital-library Net launched by the corporation was also officially opened Tuesday.
