A contemporary French art exhibition opened at Hong Kong Museum of Art Wednesday. The exhibition, one of the major programs of Le French May, featured 56 masterpieces by 11 noted artists active, offering the audience a glimpse of the various significant art movements from the 1960s to 1970s.
Secretary for Home Affairs David Lan and Consul General of France in Hong Kong Jerome Pasquier attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lan said the cities of Nice and Hong Kong share certain similarities and both are beautiful places in their own ways.
Whereas Nice experienced new art movements in the 1960s and 1970s, Hong Kong artists also attempted artistic explorations in the two decades with different accomplishments, Lan said. "I hope that the two cities will establish a closer relationship by way of cultural exchanges, contributing to further enhancement of their arts," Lan added.
