Chinese President Sends Message of Condolence to Philippines

Chinese President Jiang Zemin expressed profound sympathy to the relatives of the victims of an Air Philippines airliner crash Wednesday.

In a message of condolences sent to his Philippine counterpart Joseph Estrada, Jiang said he was shocked to learn that the flight carrying more than 120 passengers and crew members crashed near Davao City on Samal Island in Danao del Norte province.

The Boeing 737-200 crashed at around 07:05 local time Wednesday (2305 GMT Tuesday) and reports said no survivor has been found so far.
