China Stresses Dialog on Human Rights Issue: FM Spokesman

Dialogue based on equality and mutual respect is the only correct way to resolve differences among countries on the issue of human rights, while confrontation leads nowhere, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi said in Beijing on April 18.

Responding to questions at a regular press conference, Sun said that China hopes the European Union (EU) will continue to adopt the dialogue approach in this regard, and that dialog between China and members of the EU is ongoing.

"The fact that the U.S. submitted its anti-China resolution on human rights in Geneva shows it is bent on confrontation instead of dialog on the human rights issue, and in that case we will take it on and fight to the finish," Sun said.

Commenting on the on-going session on human rights in Geneva, Sun said that he is confident China's no-motion action will get passed and that the anti-China resolution tabled by the U.S. will again be defeated.
