New Northern Jiaotong University Founded
New Northern Jiaotong University, a merger of Northern Jiaotong University formerly under the Ministry of Railways and Beijing Electric Power College under the North China Power Group, was formally inaugurated on April 18. The new university will be run under the Ministry of Education.
Northern Jiaotong University and Beijing Electric Power College have been known as two higher educational institutions, with some similar specialties instituted and some complementary, that have enjoyed high reputation in China's railway and electricity industries. Northern Jiaotong University is a key university of China reputed for winning the first round of competition to enter the " 211Project", launched by the Ministry of Education in 1996. Beijing Electric Power College is outstanding for its systematic specialized education and training and its science / technology ��services provided in the electric field. A merger of the two will help reallocation of China's education resources and build the university among the world advanced.
