Chinese Vice Premier Meets Canadian Guests

Chinese Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao met with Canadian Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food Lyle Vanclief and his party on April 17.

Wen said that Sino-Canadian relations have witnessed steady growth in political, economic, cultural and other areas since the two countries formed their partnership of all-round cooperation geared towards the 21st century in 1997.

Great potential remains to be tapped in the two countries' agricultural cooperation, he said, adding that he hoped the two sides would join efforts to enhance cooperation in agriculture. Vanclief told Wen that Canada has some agricultural technologies to share with China.

Vanclief and his party are here to attend the Seventh Session of the China-Canada Joint Committee for Agricultural Cooperation at the invitation of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture.
