Sixth China-ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting to be Held in Malaysia

The sixth China-ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) will be held at Kuching of Malaysia from April 25 to 26, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi at the regular press conference called Tuesday in Beijing.

He said that Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Yang Wenchang will co-chair the meeting with Abdul Kadir Mohamad, secretary general of Foreign Ministry of Malaysia, the coordinating country of the sixth SOM.

Sun added that the vice foreign ministers of Cambodia, Indonesia, the Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam, permanent secretaries of Brunei and Singapore, and officials of the ASEAN Secretariat will attend the meeting.

He noted that since 1995, the China-ASEAN SOM has been held five times, playing a positive role in deepening cooperation in all fields and establishing good neighborly partnership of mutual confidence between China and the ASEAN.
