HK Acts to Prevent Outsiders From Stealing In

While attending a conference in Melbourne, Zeng Junhua, chief of Hong Kong Customs, recently said that the Hong Kong authorities had reached common view with the shipping departments concerned on taking a series of measures to stop "men snakes" from sneaking in by making use of containers.

In order to prevent smugglers from taking Hong Kong as the transit station for smuggling "snakes", Hong Kong customs focus on cooperation with the relevant shipping departments. The measures include intensifying public security of shipping companies and container operator at docks, studying the use of high technology to detect the illegal entry of people hidden in containers, reporting to the customs against any suspicious export containers through a special hotline, and shipping companies checking the data of new clients before making a deal.
