Isihera's Ravings IntolerableTokyo Governor Shintaro Isihera, who is used to befog the minds of the people, is a dangerous right-wing politician deliberately intending to undermine Japan-China friendly relations.Isihera's anti-China misdeeds are evident and his settled practice is hard to reform. Recently, he groundlessly vilified and viciously attacked China. When he was being interviewed by a reporter of a German weekly Mirror, he went so far as to declare that China was a greatest threat to Japan. Therefore, he asserted that it'd be best to split China into several small countries and Japan should do its best to promote this process. Under the situation wherein the governments and peoples of China and Japan, in the spirit of taking history as a lesson and looking forward to the future, are working hard to push the relations between the two countries forward, Isihera uttered the ravings against China and the Chinese people, thus going completely against the tide of history. Isihera's fallacy is in the same strain as the Japanese militarists' vicious intentions in those years to carve up and annex China. His ugly performance has aroused the Chinese people's vehement indignation and has met with the condemnation and repudiation of the Japanese people. People won't forget that in modern history, Japan was the greatest threat to Asian countries. In the more than 70 years of Meiji reform, Japan had launched and participated in 14 wars of aggression against foreign countries, 10 of which were directed against China, thus inflicting enormous disasters on China. Japan moved its troops to the territory of China and other Asian countries where they burned, killed, raped and pillaged, committing all sorts of crimes which were too numerous to record. During World War II, the various brutal and inhuman atrocities committed by Japanese troops then invading China have not only made it difficult for the Chinese people to recall, but also have caused the justice-minded Japanese to feel ashamed to talk about the matter. Today, when Isihera alleged that China, which was once subjected to Japanese militarists' endless bullying and humiliation, is a threat, he obviously has his ulterior motives, his aim is vainly attempting to bind China hand and foot and obstruct China's development, in order to keep China perpetually in a plight of being weak, easily bullied and trampled upon at will by others. In the meantime, he also tries to seek a "practical basis" for him to preach that Japan should revise its peaceful constitution, to "reorganize the army and strengthen the military power", to intensify self-defense troops and proceed to make Japan become a military power. As is known to all, there is only one China in the world, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legal government representing the whole of the Chinese people. In the Japan-China Joint Statement, the Japan-China Treaty of Peace and Friendship and other historic documents, both Japanese and Chinese governments affirmed the principle of mutual respect for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Since Japan and China realized normalization of diplomatic relations, Japan's previous governments have abided by the one-China policy. Isihera's advocacy of splitting China not only contradicts the Japanese government's solemn commitment, but also runs counter to the principled spirit of the Japan-China Joint Statement, and the Japan-China Treaty of Peace and Friendship that standardize Japan-China relationship. At present, the Chinese people's struggle to safeguard the unification of the motherland has entered a new stage, and the forces for "Taiwan independence" have been like rats crossing the street with everybody shouting, "Kill them! Kill them!" Isihera's remarks are simply an attempt to back up the "Taiwan independence" forces. Isihera hopes that Taiwan and some other localities would be separate from China and thus dismembering the country, his aim is to thoroughly weaken China, and revive Japanese militarism's old dream of dominating Asia. We sternly warn Isihera, the Chinese people will never forget the lesson that lagging behind will make one vulnerable to attacks; China's development and growing in strength is irresistible; under any circumstance, the Chinese people's determination to defend territorial integrity and realize the reunification of the motherland is unshakable. China pursues an independent foreign policy of peace, it will never threaten others, nor will it allow the re-emergence of the time of "being meat on others' chopping block-being cruelly oppressed by others". The establishment of a long-term, stable friendly and cooperative relationship between China and Japan conforms with the aspirations and fundamental interests of two peoples. Isihera's acts of spreading crazy remarks against China, driving a wedge in the friendship between the Chinese and Japanese peoples and undermining Sino-Japanese friendly relationship naturally are intolerable to the two peoples.£¨By Yue Lushi£©
