The provincial forestry department of Henan has recently designated 26 counties (cities) as no-hunting areas in this central China province.
According to the government decision, hunting of wild animals with shotguns, military weapons or other devices and methods is strictly forbidden in the no-hunting areas, all in mountainous regions.
The government will also make compensations to local residents who suffer economic losses resulting from the protection of various wild animals, according to the government decision.
