China Seeks Partner Making Super Thin, Digital Color TV Sets

China is looking for business partners to produce a kind of super thin and pure digital color Television sets.

Central China Display Screen Laboratories, Ltd.(CCDL), a high-tech company which has developed and produced China's first huge color screen, announced its intent at an international economic and trade conference which opened Sunday in Zhengzhou, capital city of central China's Henan Province. More than 1,200 overseas business people are expected to attend the conference. Plasma display panel (PDP) is what CCDL is planning to produce with overseas partners. According to CCDL general manager Li Chao, the project will need nearly 700 million U.S. dollars. CCDL is expecting 30 to 50 percent of the investment to come from overseas.

CCDL, founded in 1988, is now the largest scientific research and manufacture base of huge color screens in China. It won over Japan's Panasonic, Sony, and Mitsubishi in an international bidding to provide such big color screens for the Olympic Games in Sydney. Currently CCDL produces all outdoor huge color screens that meet European Broadcast Union (EBU) standards in China.
