Putin to Visit Belarus, Britain and Ukraine

Russia's President-elect Vladimir Putin says his upcoming visits to Britain, Belarus and Ukraine will boost cooperation between Russia and these countries.

Putin's embarking on his first foreign trip since his election on Sunday.

He says he wants to push on with problem solving on a number of key issues between Russia and England. He says the British Prime Minister Tony Blair has demonstrated a willingness to cooperate with Russia during his recent visit to Saint Petersburg.

While he's in Belarus, Putin says he will discuss with that country's President Alexander Lukashenko concrete steps to advance the unification process.

In the Ukraine, which Putin calls as a strategic partner of Russia, Putin says he'll visit the Port Sevastopol and inspect both Ukrainian and Russian naval ships there.
