China Sets Target for Coal Production

China plans to produce around 220 million tons of coal in the second quarter of this year.

Coal production fell substantially in the first quarter, leading to a reduction of stocks and rebounding of coal prices.

China, the world's largest coal producer, reduced its coal output to 1.1 billion tons last year by cutting 250 million tons of production.

This year, the country will further reduce its coal production by closing down small coal mines and reducing the output of the large coal mines.
