Eximbank Provides Soft Loan to Jamaican Water-Supply Project

The China Export and Import Bank, or Eximbank, and the Jamaican Government have signed an agreement to support Jamaica's purchasing of tap water equipment with soft loans.

Under the agreement, the 100-million-yuan, or about 13 million US dollars, soft loans will be used to purchase China-made equipment for a Jamaican water-supply project.

The agreement has been signed in accordance with a framework agreement reached by the two sides in October, 1998.

Eximbank has granted soft loans to 63 projects in 31 countries, to a value of over 4 billion yuan. This is the first time China has provided such a loan to Jamaica.
