China, Vietnam Enjoy Beneficial Ties: vice-premier

Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing and Vietnamese President Tran Duc Long agreed that China and Vietnam are enjoying smooth development in bilateral relations.

The two men held friendly talks when they were in the Cuban capital of Havana to attend the first South Summit, the largest gathering of heads of state and government of the Group of 77 since its founding in 1964.

Li said that Sino-Vietnamese relations are developing smoothly. Leaders of the two countries frequently exchange visits and have reached consensus on major principles concerning relations.

The Vietnamese president said that progress is being made between the two countries, and that bilateral cooperation in all fields has been successful and effective. China and Vietnam have the same or similar viewpoints on many international issues, he added.

The Vietnamese leader said he looks forward to continuing the exchange of viewpoints with Chinese leaders on all issues of common concern.
