Facilities for Disabled Set up in Shanghai

China's largest industrial and commercial city of Shanghai has constructed special lanes for the wheel-chaired confined people and the blind, China Daily reported today.

The move was part of the efforts to welcome the Fifth National Games of the Disabled, which is to be held next month in the city. The special lanes in underground tunnels, hotels, shopping malls and roads were built mainly in the 11 districts where various competitions will be held.

More facilities for the disabled will also be constructed in areas other than those near stadiums for the games, the paper said.

To abide by Chinese laws to protect the disabled, many new buildings have planned or constructed special lanes and other facilities, such as special toilets for the disabled.
