Consumers Warned of Tourism Scams

People with the travel bug are being warned to look out for scams when they plan holidays.

The China Consumers' Association is advising consumers to go to reputable and registered travel agencies.

It says China has over 1,000 tourist agencies. But, of those, only 67 of them have official approval to offer services for overseas tour groups.

The Consumers' Association is also warning tourists to be wary of attractive offers, which may turn out to be scams, and to study contracts carefully before signing anything.
