China Pledges to Further Open Its Market

China pledged on April 12 to exert greater efforts for WTO entry at a possible early date and participate in international multi-lateral trade system as a responsible WTO member to play its due constructive role.

The pledge was made by Chinese Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Minister Shi Guangsheng when making a keynote speech titled "Strengthen Economic and Trade Cooperation and Promote Mutual Development" at the on-going 2nd ASEAN Business Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In his speech, Shi Guangshen made it clear that China will further open up market after its entry into WTO and provide more development opportunities and cooperative chances for various countries and regions all over the world, especially those in Asia.

Minister Shi further reiterated that China is willing to promote mutual investment of mutual benefit and strengthen cooperation in hi-tech areas with ASEAN countries

China is also willing to make concerted efforts with ASEAN to push ahead with the process of trade and investment liberalization and facilitation in Asia-Pacific region for maintaining prosperity and stability of the region, he added.
