China to Host Int'l Symposium on GlobalizationAn international symposium on the challenges facing China in the age of economic globalization will be held in Beijing on August 8-10 this year.The "Symposium on China in the 21st Century, Economic Globalization and Strategies" is sponsored by the Western Returned Students Association and 44 groups and associations of overseas Chinese in the United States, Britain, Canada and Japan. More than 300 people are expected to attend, including ranking officials, world renowned scholars, entrepreneurs, and some 200 representatives of overseas Chinese. The symposium will focus on, among other topics, the challenges China is facing in the new century and the development of western China. Participants are to exchange views on China's economic security, entry into the WTO, development of human resources, the information industry, frontier technologies, and the globalization of the world's stock exchanges. |
