Botanical Garden in Southwest China Scenic City
A botanical garden that houses rare plants will be built at Mao'er Mountain, at the source of Lijiang river in Guilin, a tourist city in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The Mao'er Mountain is the highest in south China, with an elevation of 2,141 meters. There are many rare plants and animals known as "living fossil" in the mountain.
More than 20,000 trees under state protection have been planted in the garden, and workers will plant more rare trees and bamboo in the garden in the coming five years, such as Chinese Hemlock and fir, according to a local source.
