Hainan to Ban "White Pollution"

China's island province Hainan has formally stopped approving new production line of foam plastic dishware and urged producers to build recycle system to reduce " white pollution".

All dishware producers are required to build proper recycle system within one year and have been requested to increase the production of degradable plastics.

The provincial government will ban the use of plastic bags thinner than 0.025 mm from May 1.

Bins with special signs to collect plastic dishware and bag will be added in public places such as the airports, tourist spots and residential zones.

The government hopes the efforts will help increase the recycling of plastics to 95 percent.
